Women Who Have Risen, by Sophia Caulfeild (Cassell's Family Magazine, 1877)
The title refers to "women of any class who have risen to a place of honour above their sisters by the employment of their talents, intellectual attainments, and physical energies, for the benefit of others, rather than for their own elevation in society." The article touches briefly the scientific achievements of Mary Somerville and Caroline Lucretia Herschel; poets Felicia Dorothea Hemans and Elizabeth Barrett Browning; prison reformers Elizabeth Fry and Mary Carpenter; Caroline Chisholm, who established a home for the protection of young girls in Australia; and several others.

American Women, by the M.P. for Rochdale (Girl's Own Paper, 1880)
A short but interesting article looking at American women in education, at work... and in prison!

An Alphabet of Famous or Noteworthy Women, by Ximena (Girl's Own Paper, 1894)

Distinguished Women and Their Dolls, by Frances Low (The Strand, 1894B)

Women and Girls as Inventors and Discoverers, by S.F.A. Caulfeild (Girl's Own Paper, 1895)
