Victorian & Vintage Dogs 1
Warm hearts, cold noses, wagging tails - dogs were a huge part of the Victorian world. They were also a huge part of the advertising world. Many of the images below were used to sell Victorian buyers on all manner of items that had pretty much nothing to do with dogs, including thread, patent medicines, soap, and, of course, the famous Victrola. (Yep, that image in the fifth row is the famous "His Master's Voice" picture.) This collection also brings you some delightfully dressy dogs from vintage postcards. Fetch them home today!

Victorian & Vintage Dogs 2
Here are a few canines that give new meaning to the concept of "putting on the dog!" Brought to you from Victorian ephemera and vintage postcards, they definitely belong on the dog fancy's best-dressed list! This collection also brings you more examples of ways in which "the dog made me buy it" - dogs whose primary purpose was to "fetch" a few dollars from the Victorian pocket! You'll be glad they followed you home!

Dogs from Cassell's Book of the Dog
One of the leading references on purebred dogs in the Victorian day was Cassell's Book of the Dog, published in 1881. This monumental work offered a host of amazing full-color prints, many of actual champions of the time. Now you can use those wonderful Victorian images in your jewelry and crafts - a rare treat for any dog lover on your list! (If you're not sure what the breeds are, no worries - they're labeled in the folder of individual, full-size image files.)

Dogs by Arthur Thiele
This laugh-out-loud collection of frolicking, well-dressed dogs comes to you from German artist Arthur Thiele, renowned in the early 1900's for his postcards of anthropomorphic animals. Thiele had a special touch with dogs - such as his "hunting" dogs, which are all decked out for the chase. Here you'll find love-sick dachshunds, Wagnerian dogs, mischievous pups, dogs in school (generally misbehaving) and their teachers, and many more. I think you'll agree that it's time once again for these dogs to have their day!

VictorianVoices.net Image User Agreement

All of our prints and clip art images come from sources in the public domain. That means no one can claim copyright ownership of individual images in these collections. We can't - and we don't. (This also means that you can't either, even if you subsequently alter the images.)

We've seen public domain clip art collections with highly restrictive license agreements, including "rules" that limit the number of images or copies that you can use, how you can use them, etc. We don't do that.

Here's the deal. You may use our images for any sort of project you wish. You may use them for personal or commercial projects. You may use as many images as you wish, and make as many copies of individual images as you need. You may publish images in print or online. You may, for example, use them to create products for sale at craft fairs or on sites like Café Press or Zazzle. If you design a product from one of our images, you can sell as many units of that product as you like.

HERE'S OUR SINGLE RESTRICTION: You may not reproduce any VictorianVoices.net image collection as a whole or in part to resell or redistribute, either in print or electronically, or in any other format now known or likely to become available in the foreseeable future (including intergalactic data crystals). If you wish to use a small selection of images as part of your own, original collection of images (e.g., you'd like to use some of our Victorian quilt patterns in a larger collection of quilt patterns), please contact us for permission.

Your purchase of any VictorianVoices.net image/clip art collection constitutes your acceptance of these terms.
