Victorian Magazine Downloads & DVD Collections:
The Strand

For most of us, The Strand is synonymous with Sherlock Holmes. In this collection of the Victorian volumes of The Strand, you will indeed find the famous Sherlock Holmes stories as they were originally published, complete with the original illustrations that gave Holmes his unique look, deerstalker cap and all. But you'll also find a wealth of fiction by other notable Victorian-era authors, including Mark Twain, Victor Hugo, Jules Verne, Bret Harte, and dozens of others. These volumes include numerous classic stories translated from other languages, as well as some lovely international folktales for children. In short, The Strand is your key to the best of Victorian short fiction!

Volumes of The Strand are semi-annual; volumes marked "A" run from January to June; those marked "B" run from July to December. Earlier volumes bring you about 650 pages of Victoriana; later volumes offer more than 750 pages, including the hundreds of amazing photographs for which the magazine was justly famous. Individual volumes are available for download for just $5 each - or save over 60% by ordering our complete 19-volume collection on DVD!

Please don't try to download these to a tablet or cell phone. These PDF files average 250-275MB. If ordering via phone or tablet, save or forward your confirmation e-mail with your download links so that you can save your magazine(s) to a computer or laptop.

NOTE: Individual volumes of The Strand are available for free download from Archive.org. Unfortunately they are not listed by year or issue number, making it very difficult to locate specific volumes. We also consider the scans on Archive.org to be very inferior to our own. However, we want to make it clear that free copies of this magazine do exist!

We're planning a major relaunch of VictorianVoices.net in early 2018. At that time, you'll be able to access hundreds of articles from these issues on the site itself and learn more about each volume. To be notified of our relaunch, please sign up for our newsletter.
